Ulcinj attractions: planning your sights in town and by the water

Ulcinj's sights sit in two different worlds. The Clock Tower stands among ordinary streets in the town centre, while the Sailors' Mosque looks out over the Pristan waterfront below the Old Town. Pasha's Mosque, one of the town's working mosques, waits up in the Old Town itself.

Some stops are quick and simple. The Clock Tower takes about five minutes, and the Sailors' Mosque around twenty. Both are free and need no booking, which makes them easy to pair with a walk along the waterfront beside Mala Plaža.

Pasha's Mosque rewards a slower approach. Ask at the door before making the climb, and take time over the hamam attached to the building if you are drawn to the town's mosque heritage.

Use the order below to plan a first day: the quick central look, the climb to the Old Town mosque, then the waterfront landmark. It is a short list, so there is time to slow down.

Ulcinj attraction guides

  • The clock tower above Ulcinj's rooftops.

Sahat Kula Ulcinj: Visiting the Clock Tower

A 1754 stone clock tower in central Ulcinj, built by public subscription and sitting between ordinary streets rather than in the old town. Expect a clock face and bell housing, but the mechanism may not be working.

5 minutes · Free · Best for a quick look while walking

  • Inside Pasha's Mosque, Ulcinj.

Pasha's Mosque, Ulcinj: A Town Mosque with a Hamam

A working town mosque, one of Ulcinj's six, with room for 500 worshippers and a hamam attached. No visitor hours or entry rules are published, so ask at the door before making the climb.

Best for already in town, mosque heritage

  • The minaret of the Sailor's Mosque, Ulcinj.

Sailors' Mosque, Ulcinj: Visiting the Waterfront Landmark

A working mosque on the Pristan waterfront below Ulcinj's Old Town, rebuilt 2008–2012 on its earlier site. Come for the white minaret and maritime story, not old stone — the 1798 date and fourteenth-century origin are attribution and tradition.

20 minutes · free entry · Best for maritime history and waterfront walks

  • The Church-Mosque of St Mary in Ulcinj Old Town, with the stump of its minaret.

Ulcinj Museum: Visiting the Old Town Museum

The Ulcinj Museum sits just inside the old town gates, with Roman and Ottoman pieces, a 1510 church later turned into a mosque and art displays in Balsic Tower. Allow around an hour for the old town walk and check opening hours before setting out.

Free stops in central Ulcinj and on the waterfront

The Clock Tower costs nothing and takes five minutes, so it fits between other errands in the town centre. The Sailors' Mosque on the Pristan waterfront also has free entry, and twenty minutes lets you take in the white minaret and the maritime story beside Mala Plaža.

Pasha's Mosque is a working place of worship, so ask at the door before you climb up through the Old Town. The other stops ask nothing of your budget.
